a great deal more than an art break
‘A Fresh and Vibrant Approach to Watercolour’
Pam is a professional artist and specialist art tutor based in the UK. With a keen eye for detail and a background in design Pam brings a unique perspective to her artwork. Her graphic style combines striking motifs and patterned elements with a vibrant colour palette. The rich architectural heritage and surrounding landscapes of her home in Derbyshire are a constant source of inspiration and her love of travelling is also reflected in her work. Pam regularly sketches en plein air and enjoys nothing more than sitting outside with her sketchbook, taking in the view and recording what she sees.
She has won several awards for her artwork and has exhibited both locally and internationally including at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours exhibition at The Mall Galleries. Pam graduated with a BA Hons in Graphic Design and two awards from the Royal Society of Arts. She started her career as a Graphic Designer at the John Lewis Partnership. Then with an RSA travel bursary she set out on a journey of discovery around India where her love of colour and pattern was indulged and saturated.
Her belief is that to embrace the power of colour and graphic mark-making breathes life into a watercolour painting. With subjects such as still life compositions and fabulous florals she combines the graphic qualities of ink with vibrant colour in pen and wash techniques, developing confidence in brushwork and colour application.
Pam’s exciting course will be primarily studio based; there will be some drawing from direct observation and from secondary images. She says: “My teaching is focused on sharing ideas, enthusiasm and techniques, in a relaxed and fun way. Tuition is tailored to the class but adapted for each individual which means everyone gets a chance to develop their own personal approach. My aim as a teacher is to build your confidence and help you to achieve successful results through carefully structured activities and step-by-step guidance”
