Landscape and Beyond - Watercolour

Grahame Booth paints only in watercolour and his success in the medium is reflected in the numerous national and international exhibition awards he has won over many years. With no prior experience Grahame started to paint in his early 30s and the fact that he clearly remembers the problems and frustrations of learning watercolour has helped to make him a particularly sympathetic tutor, passing on lessons and techniques learned over more than 20 years.

His very popular YouTube watercolour painting channel is a great resource for the watercolour artist. He has produced two DVDs, and several books - do have a look at his website for more information. Grahame is a regular contributor to the UK magazines ‘The Artist’ and ‘Artists and Illustrators’. Grahame’s awards include 2025 Art in the Open International Painting Festival and the Percy French Society award at the 2025 exhibition of the Ulster Watercolour Society.

Grahame considers himself to be a watercolour impressionist, attempting to capture the essence of a subject rather than precise detail and he believes that ‘plein air’ observation, sketching and painting is the key to success in this beautiful medium. He uses a logical approach to translate the landscape into watercolours which are full of light, excitement and impact.
